In the face of this year’s devastating bushfires, we’d like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the volunteers and firefighters who have been working around the clock to keep us safe. This is why we are encouraging you to show your gratitude by donating your empty containers to the Donnybrook Balingup Containers for Change Depot and choosing to donate to your local brigade.
The Containers for Change scheme began in Western Australia in October 2020, and has provided a great way for us all to contribute to our local communities. By collecting and returning eligible containers, we can generate valuable funds to support a variety of local initiatives and organisations.
What is Containers for Change?
The Containers for Change scheme is a Western Australian refund program that encourages people to collect and return eligible containers for a 10-cent refund. This includes containers made of glass, plastic, aluminum, steel, or liquid paperboard. You can collect the containers and take them to a designated Refund Point, such as the Donnybrook Balingup Containers for Change Depot.
At the depot, you can choose to donate your refund to a variety of local organisations and initiatives, such as your local fire brigade. The funds generated will be used to help support the brigade’s vital work in the community, including providing safety and education services, and responding to emergencies.
What Can I Do to Help?
It’s easy to get involved and show your support! All you need to do is collect eligible containers and return them to the Donnybrook Balingup Containers for Change Depot. Remember to choose to donate your refund to your local fire brigade. Every little bit helps!
You can also spread the word to your friends and family, and encourage them to join in the initiative. Together we can make a difference and show our appreciation for the hardworking volunteers and firefighters who are doing their best to keep us safe.
